Plans layout, installs, and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment on irrigation systems. Provide support to Operations Manager, perform new installations, service and repair on equipment, transport items that require movement in order to meet company needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
  • Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future structures.
  • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit.
  • Pulls wiring through conduit.
  • Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
  • Connects wiring to boxes, motors, control panels, and install grounding leads.
  • Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
  • Program as needed control devices to operate various types of equipment such as but not limited to pumps, filters, level controls
  • Tests amps, volts and continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope.
  • Maintain basic stock of electrical supplies and components to minimize repeat trips to and from job sites.
  • Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • Repairs faulty equipment or systems.
  • Cuts and welds steel structural members.
  • Prepares or assists in preparation of materials and labor takeoffs for bids.
  • Interacts with customer, salesperson, and management on status of customer projects.
  • Operates light duty equipment (less than three tons).
  • Helps load/unload pipe, pumps, and equipment for scheduled delivery to customer or other Branch.
  • Keeps accurate written records of all deliveries and pick-ups, obtains customer
  • signatures as well as pictures needed for invoicing as required by management.
  • Reports any needed truck maintenance/repair to Operations Manager.  Keeps truck clean.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repair duties on branch equipment.
  • Follows all company safety procedures and wears personal protective gear as required.

Education and/or Experience:
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
