This position is that of a Head of Business Development Department, responsible for managing a small number of business development and marketing team and reporting to the General Manager.

The organization is a multipurpose port and terminal operator in the UAE, focusing on handling crude - oil and other oil products via the terminal and services a number of private tank farm operators in the vicinity to meet their import and export requirements.  There are plans to expand this business as well to diversify into handling hydrocarbon related products as and other lines of business compatible with a multipurpose  port .
Candidates should have had experience working in Europe or North America, preferably in a Port/Terminal environment

The role of the BDM will be to improve on the organizations market position and achieve financial growth.  He/she will define long term strategic goals, identify business opportunities, build customer relationships and maintain extensive knowledge of market conditions, including competition. He/she will be required to interact with mid and senior level managers in finance, technical and other disciplines  and will be responsible for strategic planning to develop new businesses. He/she will formulate business forecasts -  both  annual budgets and long term  projections and  update the top/ senior  management with reports on market related affairs. He/she will submit monthly as well as ad hoc Market reports to the management.  His/her market assessment will form the basis for the top management to plan further business expansion and take investment decisions. He/she will also be responsible to manage existing customers to ensure they remain satisfied and positive.

The BDM's education and experience should match this demanding job. He/she will be a university  graduate, preferably an MBA from a recognized  University. A multi disciplinary formal education would be an advantage to be able to deal with the business complexities of a multipurpose port. The BDM will be expected to have overall 20 years experience of which at least 7 years in a similar position reporting to the GM/CEO, ideally in a similar business environment.
