Senior Well Engineer

Location: Remote with occasional visits to Den Haag office

Provision of well design related information for the development of drilling and exploration wells. Generally, this entails the working up all the documentations as per the Well Delivery Process (WDP) for the Feasibility, Concept Select and Execution stages (Basis of Design) as well as contributions to the subsurface documents. There can also be parallel project work for new (platform) developments, costs engineering, SAP, warehouse tracking and such. As in oil and gas projects, promoting optimization techniques and strategies that optimise asset value and enhance life of well performance is part of the job. All wells are to be designed and delivered in accordance with local statutory requirements and corporate policies, standards and procedures, whilst driving excellence in Health, Safety and Environmental performance, technological innovation and continuous performance improvement.

Main duties & responsibilities

• Excellence in Health, Safety and Environmental performance as well as a personal HSE drive to care.
• Prepare Well Delivery Documents as well as regulatory submissions as per the PLANC register (list of regulatory requirements).
• Aid the operations team in trouble shooting when operations don’t go as per plan.
• Organizing and leading workshops for the approvals of well design stages as per the WDP. Get wells through feasibility, concept and readiness stages.

Internal and External Interfaces

• The role is part of the Drilling and Wells functionally and operationally reports to the Head of Well Engineering.
• The role has no subordinates, but team leading experience will be advantageous for the successful candidate.
• Facilitate effective interfaces between all services provided to drilling operations.
• Liaise with; Drilling & Wells team, Subsurface Team, HSEQ Representatives, Contracts & Procurement (inc. Logistics) and Finance.
• Participate in cross company initiatives to identify new technologies and enable the team to benefit from experiences elsewhere. An extensive relevant network is seen as a large advantage.
• Prepare and liaise with partners (other operators) and governmental institutions where and when required (OCM, TCM, meetings, also with EBN/SODM, etc.).
• Offshore visits to the rig site are not expected.
• IWCF is not mandatory.

Required qualifications, experience and behaviour

• Demonstrated capacity of teamwork and analytical competence.
• Minimum 8-10 years relevant experience in well engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Drilling Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or similar.
• A plus is experience in project work and niche well designs (HPHT, ERC, complicated completions, well testing, etc.).
