Job Description

Project Manager (ship building/conversion)

· Project Manager is responsible for control and management of specific phase, area or discipline of ships New build /Conversion project. Coordinate works with Client site representatives related to area of responsibility and maintain professional and productive relationship.

· Effective coordination of assigned Production supervision, monitor of progress, prepare and maintain micro schedule, clearly identifying risks, bottlenecks and critical path. Responsible for HSE compliance and performance within assigned areas of responsibility.

· Responsible for accurate reporting and forecasting on phase/project status including schedule, budget, quality, productivity, risks and other project performance indicators as applicable.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Policies, Processes & Procedures:

• Follows all relevant departmental/yard policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

• Follow the information Security Rules and data security measures in order to protect the company information / intellectual properties.

Day- to-day operations:

• Study the Client Specification (s)/Drawings/Contract and participate in preparation/approval of Project Plan.

• Determine Yard obligations against Contract and ensure implementation of same.

• Participate in Construction Methodology preparation at the initial stage and also during the project execution as required.

• Coordination with various Yard Departments and Subcontractors on daily basis for achieving the daily targets in line with project schedule.

• Application of effective planning techniques in order to meet project milestones and planned budget, including both execution and logistics.

• Monitor and report productivity, schedule performance and budget targets related to area of responsibility.

• Identify variations from the original Contract Specification/Drawings and co-ordinate with Project Commercial to raise variation orders.

• Maintain professional relationship with Client site team and manage their requirements.

• Identify and asses risks at an early stage in order to avoid failures in project execution.

• Prepare periodic project reporting to Senior Management and Client.

• Close out project documentation.

• Conduct/participate in Lessons Learnt Meeting during and at the end of Project, document and follow up implementation of same.

• Perform other job related duties as assigned by the section head.

Contributes to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of processes and practices taking into account ‘international best practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.

Reporting:

• Assists in the preparation of timely and accurate reports to meet company and department requirements, policies and standards.

Safety, Quality & Environment:

Complies with all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.

Related Assignments:

Performs other related duties or assignments as directed

 

REQUIREMENTS

Technical competencies:

· Computer Proficient MS Office, MS Project

· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings for ships, offshore facilities and equipment/machinery

· Ability to apply Project Management techniques.

· Ability to prepare construction specification and method statements.

· Ability to focus on multiple objectives.

· Good Leadership qualities.

· Good knowledge of up-to-date shipbuilding and offshore construction process.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or similar

• Computer Proficient MS Excel, MS Project

Experience:

• 10 years of Shipyard experience preferably in New Building/Conversion
