Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Seed Production Technician to join our team. The Seed Production Technician will play a crucial role in supporting various tasks related to seed production, working closely with the primary cropping leader and agricultural development team. This position involves a mix of office-based and field work, with a focus on ensuring optimal crop health and productivity.

Job Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the primary cropping leader to plan and monitor field operations, including nutrition practices, disease monitoring, and spraying programs for both field production and nurseries.
• Assist in the implementation of treatments against infestations, irrigation, and nutrition practices, while ensuring proper maintenance and climate control in nurseries and plant fields.
• Coordinate field operations with the cropping team, ensuring alignment with seed production cropping dynamics.
• Digitally track and maintain field operation data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Provide crop and variety-specific knowledge as needed, adapting growing practices to hybrid requirements.
• Oversee production fields from planting to harvest, recording and analyzing trial data, spraying activities, nutrition, irrigation, and climate data.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by staying informed about agronomic innovations and participating in cropping projects.

Job Qualifications:

• A technician specialized in agricultural sciences or related field.
• Must have a minimum of 3 years of proven work experience in crop production.
• Functional knowledge of field production processes.
• Familiarity with mechanized agricultural operations is advantageous.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Proficiency in QGIS, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong organizational and observation abilities.
• Commitment to following work instructions with precision.
• Methodical approach to data collection and analysis.
• Creative problem-solving skills with a focus on achieving short, medium, and long-term goals.
• Motivated to successfully complete tasks with a high level of accuracy.
• Capable of establishing and maintaining positive working relationships.
• Ability to work in plantation farms and endure long periods on feet.
