Electrical Maintenance Engineer (Power Plant)

Job Description

Job Summary

To be responsible for all Electrical systems in the Power Plant; provide the necessary routine maintenance, and ensure 100% availability of the plant systems.

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Electrical team in resolving issues highlighted as part of the analysis from the planning and efficiency team
  • Ensure high availability of all Electrical equipment and systems in the power plant
  • Minimize the cost of maintenance of the plant and optimize equipment lifecycle cost
  • Supervision of maintenance measures in the Electrical maintenance unit and ensured the quality of Maintenance
  • Respond to any electrical equipment malfunction or breakdown
  • Ensure proper record of faults and repairs on plant electrical systems
  • Ensure availability of spares and other infrastructure for maintenance
  • Minimize response time to the Operations unit for handling routine day-to-day problems
  • Optimize Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)
  • Plan resource requirements for electrical maintenance–manpower, materials, and contracts

Educational Qualifications and Other Requirements:

  • You have a degree or HND in Electrical/ Electronics Engineering
  • You have a minimum of 3 years experience in Power Industry
  • You are a member of COREN; and have a postgraduate degree or other certifications. 
  • You have experience in a Power Plant with a minimum 20MW capacity or experience in any other oil and gas process or production facility. 
  • You have experience in 132KV HV systems (this will be an added advantage) 
  • Technical knowledge of all electrical systems 
  • Understanding of the working of equipment and history of equipment. 
  • Knowledge of standard operating procedures concerning the maintenance of Electrical system. 
  • Good knowledge of troubleshooting and maintenance of switchgears, motors, UPS/DC systems. 
  • Technical troubleshooting and ability to identify the root cause of problems to avoid recurrence. 
  • Knowledge of safety requirements and environmental aspects of power generation. 
  • Knowledge of modern maintenance management practices and spare inventory management. 
  • Knowledge of statutory guidelines related to electrical equipment Knowledge of Engineering. 
  • Experience in Low, medium, and high-voltage electrical systems. 
  • Skilled in maintenance planning, scheduling, and technical reporting. 
  • Ability to carry out preventive and proactive interventions of plant electrical systems using OEM design schematics with minimal supervision
