Chief Operating Officer

Start date: ASAP – Permanent role – based in UK (Middlesbrough)

As a senior managerial executive officer responsible for overseeing the organisations operations and relative functions. The duties of a Chief Operating Officer (COO) include implementing organisational business strategies and optimising the organisation’s operational capabilities to meet agreed objectives.

Requiring a minimum of at least 15 years’ experience working within community-based, specialised health and social care professional services at all levels. With a strong understanding of the operational requirements and insights into how to continuously improve outcomes for the people being supported.

As a COO in our health and social care organisation driven by servant leadership, your primary role is to collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in setting and driving organisational vision, operations strategy, working with other Chief Officers and members of the Senior Management Team, translating strategic objectives into impactful actions. Your focus will be on optimising the day-to-day operational delivery of high-quality services, fostering a ‘person-led’ approach, and supporting new project initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership: Provide servant leadership and effective oversight to ubu’s Operational functions, ensuring the delivery of business goals for a personalised service experience.
  • Business Leadership: Design and implement operational strategies, plans, and procedures to drive comprehensive goals for performance and growth.
  • Quality and Compliance: Establish and uphold policies, procedures, processes and measures of performance that align with ubu’s business needs, culture and vision. Ensure compliance with national and industry regulations and take appropriate action when necessary.
  • Oversight and Foresight: Service delivery, organisational structure, and functional areas, including Quality and Compliance, Communications, and Stakeholder relationships.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Chief officers to work collaboratively, leading, inspiring, and empowering employees to achieve maximum performance and engagement. To assist all Chief Officers and Teams in establishing and developing future ventures.
  • Reporting and Decision Making: Through evaluating qualitative and quantitative sources, analysing and interpreting data and reporting data analysis. Ensuring governance compliance where required. Provide comprehensive reports on significant matters to the CEO.

This role requires the post holder(s) commitment to servant leadership principles which are pivotal in creating a sustainable, positive, and person-led work environment, ensuring the delivery of exceptional health and social care services.

  • Strategic Relationships: Develop and maintain key strategic relationships that support the current and future objectives the organisation.
  • Effective Management: Emphasis on maintaining control of diverse business operations, excellent people skills, business acumen, and exemplary work ethics, highlighting the importance of effective management.
  • Business Functionality: Clear articulation of the COO’s goal to secure the functionality of the business, ensuring extensive and sustainable growth while delivering quality service at all levels. Translating strategy into actionable steps for growth, implementing organisation-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operations planning.

Requirements for the role

  • Proven experience as Chief Operating Office or relevant role
  • Understanding of business Service Delivery, HR, Finance, ICT and marketing functions
  • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics, ICT and Business infrastructure
  • Outstanding organisational and leadership abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
  • Clinically Qualified essential. BSc/BA in Business Administration or relevant field; MSc/MBA is a plus
