PURPOSE OF THE POSITIONAs a project leader or project team member, the simultaneous realization of several larger and smaller non-standard or new construction projects, at the refinery from the first start (often based on project specification) up to and including the final implementation phase, with the aim of improving the process or to support the Maintenance department. Checking and assessing the content of the engineering documentation package for renovation or new construction delivered by contractor, advising and supporting project coordinator to ensure that outsourced engineering assignments meet the requirements, procedures, technical specifications, and government and safety requirements, budget and timeline are met.
 
KEY RESULT AREAS

1. Engineering

Checks and assesses whether outsourced engineering activities within the own discipline comply with the relevant internal engineering specifications and/or engineering best practices.

• Checks and assesses the detailed cost estimate for the various projects, which serves as a basis for applying for funds and/or for working out the economic feasibility of a project.
• Checks and reviews detailed engineering documentation packages.
• Developing and reviewing the project implementation plan and work package for the part of the own field of expertise.
• Formal acceptance and handover of the project to the main user and all other relevant parties.

1. Advice

Advises and supports the Project Manager to ensure that outsourced engineering assignments meet requirements, procedures, technical specifications, and government and safety requirements
 

1. Day-to-day support of the refinery operation

In appropriate situations, the job holder acts as a troubleshooter and/or advisor in the event of operational or maintenance-related problems with the aim of solving these problems and preventing them structurally.

1. Engineering Design Specifications

Job holder actively contributes from his/her own field of expertise to keeping up-to-date and incorporating best industry / engineering practices into the relevant KPE engineering design specifications.
The job holder advises the line organization from his/her field of expertise in cases where no engineering design specification is available.
 

1. Project Documentation

Taking care of the necessary financial and administrative closure of the project and transferring all relevant drawings, documents, data information, etc. to the Drawing Office and other departments (Operations, Maintenance)
 
 
NATURE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB 
ADDITIONAL NOTES AND REMARKS:

• The position of Project Engineer has various areas of interest, namely electrical, instrumentation, mechanical and civil.
• The officer coordinates the work of the people in the various engineering disciplines.
• In some cases, Project Engineer can also carry out engineering work himself.
• The position has a certain degree of freedom of action in terms of its own work organization and contacts with engineering firms, suppliers, representatives, etc. in consultation with the Project Manager.
• In this position, close cooperation with the following departments is important: Operations, Process Technology, Maintenance, Inspection and HSEQ, for various forms of work consultations and other (informative) discussions.
• In appropriate situations, the officer acts as a troubleshooter and/or advisor in the event of operational, maintenance or inspection problems with the aim of solving and preventing these problems.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSBachelor’s or master’s degree in one of the relevant disciplines:

• Mechanical engineering direction for mechanical engineering
• Electrical Engineering Direction Electrical
• Instrumentation: Electrical with a specialization in measurement and control technology
