Civil Project Engineer
Location: Rotterdam
Duration: 12 months renewable
Languages: Dutch and English fluent

**1. Engineering**

Monitors and evaluates outsourced engineering work within their own discipline to ensure compliance with relevant internal engineering specifications and/or engineering ‘best practices.’

– Reviews and assesses detailed cost estimates for various projects, serving as the basis for fund requests and/or evaluating the economic feasibility of a project.

– Reviews and assesses detailed engineering documentation packages.

– Develops and reviews the project execution plan and work package for their respective discipline.

– Formally accepts and hands over the project to the main user and all other relevant parties.

**2. Advisory**

Advises and supports the Project Manager to ensure that outsourced engineering tasks meet requirements, procedures, technical specifications, and government and safety regulations.

**3. Daily Support for Refinery Operations**

Acts as a troubleshooter and/or advisor in case of operational or maintenance-related technical issues, with the aim of resolving these issues and preventing them structurally.

**4. Engineering Design Specifications**

Actively contributes, from their own field of expertise, to keeping the relevant engineering design specifications up to date, incorporating ‘best industry/engineering practices.’ Provides advice to the line organization in cases where no engineering design specification is available.

**5. Project Documentation**

Ensures the necessary administrative closure of the project and transfers all relevant drawings, documents, data information, etc., to the Drawing Room and other departments (Operations, Maintenance).

**ADDITIONAL TASKS AND REMARKS**

– The position of Project Engineer covers several areas of expertise, including electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, and civil. This position focuses on the civil engineering area.

– The person in this role coordinates the work of people from various engineering disciplines.

– In certain cases, the Project Engineer may also carry out engineering tasks themselves.

– The position provides a certain degree of autonomy in terms of work planning and contacts with engineering firms, suppliers, representatives, etc., in consultation with the Project Manager.

– Close collaboration with the following departments is important in this role: Operations, Process Technology, Maintenance, and HSEQ, for various types of work meetings and other (informative) discussions.

– The person in this role acts as a troubleshooter and/or advisor in case of operational, maintenance, or inspection-related technical issues, with the goal of solving and preventing these problems.

**EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS**

HBO (Higher Professional Education) or university degree in one of the relevant disciplines:
