Job Description

Job Summary:
 
The Quality Assurance/Quality Control Specialist (QA/QC) is responsible for developing and maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS) within drilling operations. This position involves documenting quality policies and procedures, conducting regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements. The specialist will identify and document non-conformances, implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs), and verify the certifications of equipment and materials.
Additionally, the role includes conducting quality assessments of vendors and contractors, as well as developing training programs to enhance quality compliance awareness among personnel. The specialist will manage document control processes and establish performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of the QA/QC function, generating regular quality performance reports. Furthermore, the specialist will facilitate the capture of lessons learned and promote continuous improvement while ensuring adherence to applicable regulations and industry standards.
 

Main responsibilities:

  • Quality Management System (QMS) Documentation: Developing and maintaining the QMS documentation, which includes quality policies, procedures, work instructions, and forms relevant to drilling operations.
  • Quality Audits and Inspections: Conducting regular audits and inspections to verify compliance with quality standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements. This includes inspections of equipment, materials, processes, and documentation.
  • Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs): Identifying and documenting any deviations or non-compliance with quality standards or procedures. Preparing NCRs and working with relevant stakeholders to address and resolve the identified issues.
  • Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs): Implementing CAPAs to address non-conformances and prevent recurrence. This involves identifying root causes, developing action plans, and tracking the effectiveness of implemented corrective actions.
  • Equipment and Material Certifications: Verifying the certifications and documentation of equipment and materials used in drilling operations. This includes reviewing inspection reports, certificates of conformity, and material test reports.
  • Vendor and Contractor Quality Assessments: Conducting quality assessments of vendors and contractors to evaluate their ability to meet quality requirements. This may involve pre-qualification audits, supplier evaluations, and performance monitoring.
  •  Quality Training and Awareness: Developing and delivering training programs to enhance the understanding and awareness of quality requirements among personnel involved in drilling operations. This includes training in quality procedures, standards, and best practices.
  • Document Control: Managing the control, distribution, and revision of quality-related documents and records. This ensures that the latest versions of documents are available to relevant personnel and that obsolete documents are properly archived.
  • Quality Performance Metrics and Reporting: Establishing performance metrics to measure and track the effectiveness of the QA/QC function. Generating regular reports on quality performance, highlighting trends, areas of improvement, and recommended actions.
  • Lessons Learned and Continuous Improvement: Facilitating the capture and dissemination of lessons learned from quality-related incidents, near misses, and improvement initiatives. Updating the lessons learned database to support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices in quality management. Staying updated on relevant regulations and advising the drilling team on necessary actions to maintain compliance.


Qualifications:

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: In quality management and quality control, specifically in evaluating and managing the quality of contracted service providers.
  • Skills:
    • Strong supervisory and monitoring skills to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills for managing non-conformances, Non-Productive Time (NPT), and corrective actions related to supplier performance.
    • Ability to manage KPIs and rental Quality Control (QC) matrices effectively.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in quality management, such as ISO 9001, Six Sigma, or similar, are preferred.
