Job Summary

We are looking to recruit an experienced HSSE Advisor on behalf of an international Energy company in the Netherlands.

This is a Freelancer/Contractor opportunity from January 2025 until June 2025. The role will be office based in Alkmaar until mid March, then offshore until the end of June.

The purpose of this role is to support the offshore team during the Barge Campaign and ensure a safe and efficient Barge Campaign. The role holder will also provide day-to-day operational HSSE support in the following:

• To promote excellence in safety management across all levels of offshore activity;
• To review the work packages for the campaign;
• Provide Support, coaching, specialist expertise and advice to the workforce, during the campaign;
• To intervene and stop work when this is not meeting process and procedures;
• To promote compliance with safe working practice of the organisation’s management system, particularly work management;

Main responsibilities

• Assure the teams are aware and understand the organisation’s essential safety rules
• Coach the team were required
• Intervene if safety rules are breached
• Work closely with on-site contractors and assure contractors are aware of HSSE requirements
• Provide feedback to the onshore HSSE Lead Upstream
• Support in control of work, from preparation of the Permit to Work/Task Risk Assessment, review of work programs to execution on the sites
• Subject matter specialist for:

• Occupational safety
• Control of Work
• Incident Investigation and Reporting.

• Support the HSSE Advisors with Emergency Response (ER) capability and offshore drill program
• During Barge campaign, act as HSSE Representative in the Barge Team in the preparation and execution phase
• Promotion of a culture where all activities are conducted in a safe and effective manner and in line with the HSSE performance standards
• Support the Barge Team and Operations in the supervisory responsibility to ensure that all work activities are executed in accordance with procedures
• Support aspects of regulatory inspections
• Review work control documents and permits for accuracy and conformity

Experience/Qualifications/Skills

• Relevant HSSE experience is similar roles in the Energy/Oil & Gas Industry
• Proficiency in Dutch and English language
• NEBOSH, HVK/MVK or similar qualification
• Offshore Survival Safety Training Certificate
• Auditor Qualification
• Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis specialist
• Considerable knowledge of the NL legislation
• Skills in audit, incident investigation and management systems
• IT literate: Applicable database/s, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to intermediate level.
• Below experience and qualifications would be a plus but are not mandatory:
• (Lead) Auditor qualification.
• Radiation Protection Supervisor, Level 5B.
• Kelvin TOPSET and/or COMET investigator.
• Experience in an operational oil and gas role.

Location: Alkmaar, the Netherlands. The role will be office based in Alkmaar until mid March, then offshore until the end of June.
