Job Description

As a Flexilay PLC Technician Supervisor with Global Vessel Experience, your role would involve supervising a team of technicians responsible for the operation and maintenance of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) on vessels. Your job would require a deep understanding of PLC systems, as well as expertise in managing and leading a team in a global setting.
Your responsibilities may include:

  1. Supervising PLC technicians: You would oversee a team of technicians and provide guidance and support in their day-to-day activities. This includes assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring that work is performed efficiently and accurately.
  2. PLC system maintenance: You would be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of PLC systems on vessels. This involves conducting regular inspections, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating repairs or upgrades as necessary.
  3. Training and development: You would provide training and development opportunities for your team members to enhance their technical skills and knowledge of PLC systems. This may involve organizing workshops, arranging external training sessions, or providing on-the-job coaching.
  4. Compliance and safety: Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards is crucial in the maritime sector. You would be responsible for ensuring that all work performed by your team adheres to safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  5. Documentation and reporting: Keeping accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and system performance is essential. You would oversee the documentation process and generate reports to track the status of PLC systems and provide updates to higher management.
  6. Collaboration: Working closely with other departments, such as engineering, operations, and procurement, would be necessary to coordinate projects, resolve issues, and implement improvements in the PLC systems on vessels.
  7. Continuous improvement: As a supervisor, you would be expected to identify areas for improvement in processes, procedures, and system performance. You would work with your team and other stakeholders to implement changes that enhance efficiency and reliability.

You are meant for this job if you:

  • Have a recognised Electrical, Hydraulic, Mechanical or PLC trade qualification (BTEC Higher National Diploma, NVQ Level 3, SVQ Level 3 or Equivalent) with sufficient industry experience to assure competence
  • Have a global understanding of all the hydraulic/mechanical/electrical machinery and systems
  • Have extensive Offshore experience on Flexilay equipment operation as supervisor position
  • Have the ability to constantly achieve results within defined timeframes. The drive to do things better and complete against a standard of excellence
  • Cooperate with others, mutual support and adapt well to change
  • Understand and meets the needs of customers – internal and external as appropriate
  • Continuously strive to improve the performance of self and others, and uses innovative methods to achieve this
  • Have the capacity to change and improve and displays high levels of personal credibility and integrity
  • Take an active part in communicating and acting on local objectives and strategies
  • Have the ability and determination to build and maintain an excellent working relationship based on a demonstrated respect for others and a willingness to work co-operatively
  • Have excellent spoken and written English
  • Hold a valid Offshore Survival certificate / Valid Offshore Medical certificate (OGUK) / OPITO CA-EBS Initial Deployment Training / Bi-Deltoid Shoulder Measurement
