Maintenance Superintendent (Offshore)
Business/Department: Operations Offshore
Reporting To: Offshore Installation Manager
Rotation: 28/28 days
 
Job Purpose
Plans, supervises and exercises direct control of Mechanical, Electrical, Instrument and Control groups for planned/ corrective (and Minor project support) work activities. Activities cover all turbo-machinery, rotating equipment, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, HVAC and Cranes Maintenance. Ensures the Health, Safety & Welfare all employees and contractors working under their control and continued integrity and efficiency of plant equipment. Ensures all work is carried out in conformance with the integrated plan, in accordance with safety standards and relevant maintenance procedures.
Key Accountabilities

  1. Support and satisfy the policies, goals, efforts, and programs of Company Health, Safety and Environmental (“HSE”) Management System.
  2. Ensure HSE issues are given primary consideration in all activities undertaken within area of responsibility.
  3. Provide direct technical guidance and supervision to the Mechanical, Electrical, Instrument and Control groups involved in the performance of preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment including replacement and overhaul.
  4. Ensure quality and delivery of work through adherence to standards and procedures with sound technical work practices (adhering to the 28 day / 7 day planned and immediate corrective work requirements).
  5. Develop plans and communicate expectations to the Maintenance Team that are aligned with business needs in order to accomplish business goals.
  6. Works with others in a multi-disciplined / multi-cultural environment to optimise use of resources, resolve failures, improve procedures and processes, and ensure the health and safety of personnel, equipment and protection of the environment.
  7. Utilise knowledge of process operations to recognise impacts to production caused by maintenance and failure of equipment including turbines, centrifugal gas compressors, and centrifugal pumps.
  1. Ensure the adequacy of spares / stock levels and consumables for all maintenance activities and work scopes.
  1. Provide daily / weekly maintenance progress updates and technical reports as required by management.
  1. Manage in conjunction with the Planning Group accurate planning to guarantee adequate skills and resources are in place at all times to ensure that the Business Objectives are achieved.
  1. Ensure the adequacy of spares / stock levels and consumables for all Maintenance activities and forthcoming Campaign / Shutdown work scopes.
  1. Identification, recording and analysis of potential safety / production threats (including de-bottle necking opportunities) and identify any areas for potential improvements / production uplifts and cost savings.
  1. Act as Permit to Work (“PTW”) Area Authority for Living Quarters.
  1. Lead and assist the planning function to minimise plant downtime, optimise available resources and ensure appropriate efforts are applied to addressing the completion of critical and overdue activities to meet Key Performance Indicators (“KPI’s”) compliance.
  2. Actively support the delivery of offshore KPI’s and Asset and Operating

Integrity (“A&OI”) activities in their area of influence.

  1. Responsible for the preventative and corrective maintenance programmes of cranes, ensuring certification is up to date.
  2. Carry out worksite audits of Maintenance and other teams to ensure quality and safety.
  3. Participate in, and promote Company Horizon Zero and HSE – STAR safety programmes.
  4. Ability to lead/ provide instruction to incident investigation teams and act as “Super User” within the Computerised Maintenance Management system.

 
REQUIREMENTS
Educational Qualifications:

  • Completion of Secondary (10 years) education, followed by 3 yr Diploma or apprenticeship in Electrical, Mechanical, Control or Instrumentation (equivalent to UK NVQ, HNC or Bachelor’s Degree).

Experience Profile:

  • 10 years’ experience in the maintenance, repair, overhaul of a variety of offshore electrical, instrumentation & mechanical equipment (specifically, high speed gas turbine driven machinery and associated plant) in an oil & gas / petrochemical environment (of which 5 years must have been spent in a supervisory position).
  • Experience with and thorough knowledge of gas compression plant maintenance and processes.
  • Experience in Operations Safety Case, statutory requirements and safe systems of work including the PTW, isolation procedures, and risk assessment.
