Asset & Corporate Security Officer

Job Description

Job Summary

Responsible for implementing the Company’s security strategy in alignment with the corporate business strategy, ensuring the security of personnel (employees, contractors, and other stakeholders), assets, and operations across all Company locations to assure the security aspects of Licence and Freedom to operate.

Main Responsibilities

  • Responsible for co-creating and executing the appropriate security strategy and policies in tandem with the corporate business strategy to enable sustained license and freedom to operate.
  • Provide a framework, including policies and procedures for managing Executive Security, ensuring implementation, ongoing reviews, and regular updates in response to the evolving security environment.
  • Develop and manage a sustainable security intelligence and security risk management framework for the company to ensure proactive management of security threats to people, assets, and operations.
  • Provide routine advice to guide business leaders in decisions relating to projects and operations based on the security assessments and intelligence gathered.
  • Provide proactive security advisory services and guidance to the organization based on regular security intelligence reports and other structured security assessments and reports.
  • Manage relationships with external security stakeholders including the topmost leadership of Government Security and Law enforcement agencies, (Nigeria Police, SSS, EFCC, Joint Military Task Forces- Army, Navy, and Airforce, NCDSC, etc.) to ensure that Company’s security needs are adequately catered for.
  • Manage the full suite of Emergency Response, Crisis Management capabilities, and processes for the security team in close liaison with the corporate emergency response team.
  • Provide strategic and tactical security operational leadership across Company assets and offices, integrated with the EHSS management framework and processes.
  • Integrate best-in-class security management principles into operational processes e.g. people and logistics journey management, operationalized through robust (security) standard operating procedures.
  • Develop and execute a planned routine of security audits, compliance checks, and a Security Investigation Review Panel to assure regulators and stakeholders of the robustness of the Company’s security framework.
  • Provide credible and tested options in the management of, and response to security-related crises and emergencies (e.g. kidnapping, militant attacks, insurgency, violence, breakdown of law-and-order, etc.) to support safe and sustainable issues resolution and business continuity.
  • Manage the capability and competence development of security personnel in the Company to ensure a high level of security skills for the effective functioning of the Security Organisation.
  • Stewardship for the security budget, including adopting information technology and other suitable technologies to deliver efficient, effective, and cost-optimized security operations.
  • Ensure effective and efficient management of contracts for security-related services (Logistics, Guards services, Security equipment procurement and maintenance, Intelligence services, etc.) in line with company policies and industry best practices.
  • Deploy and operationalize a security control and command center to enable quicker anticipation and analysis of security challenges.
  • Responsible for liaison role counterpart security officers in external regulatory agencies e.g. Armed Forces, Police, etc. to secure their buy-in and support of the Company’s security plans, budgets, and contracts.
  • Support and responsibility for pre-employment security services and post-employment staff security.

 
Educational Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of first Degree in the Arts, Sciences, Social Sciences, or Law
  • Experience in the Armed Forces or Security services, or any relevant disciplines (at least equivalent to a Captain in the Army)
  • Previous experience managing security services in the Oil and Gas industry (Niger Delta region).
  • Ability to deal with multidimensional security issues in Oil and Gas operations.
  • Knowledge and Experience in Information Security and security system technologies is desired
