Development & Fundraising – Internship (WTS Energy)

Education and Development

One of our offices is located in Kenya, where exciting developments are currently taking place. We are actively involved in East Africa’s energy transition, promoting a leap forward to full industrialization powered by renewable energy. How do we practically do that? Despite its immense potential, renewable energy is still emerging compared to conventional sources, creating opportunity for skilled professionals. This gap calls for upskilling and retraining those with traditional degrees or informal experience to tap into exciting new job opportunities and drive sustainable development in their communities and the wider African region.

Last year, we partnered with international development organizations and the educational public sector of Kenya to advance this mission. These initiatives are now being carried out under the WTS Foundation.

The WTS Foundation core focus is on: 

• Developing and deliver training in Renewable Energy
• Establishing knowledge hubs for Renewable Energy technology and skills
• Fostering communities that actively engage with these hubs
• Improving job conditions through international opportunities in renewable energy

Where does an internship program fit in our vision? A development & fundraising intern should become a bridge and the best between both worlds.
We expect from you:

1. Prospect identification and fundraising for current projects in training in renewable energy.
2. Relationships development with multiple stakeholders from development, private and public sector energy industry in Europe and (east) Africa.
3. Identity, research and convene other existing projects that have aligned objectives.
4. Write log frames, grant proposals and review applications weekly.

But if there is anything you should be aware of from the get-go is that at WTS, it is best to expect the unexpected. No matter your job title, your work with us will be very dynamic.

Sounds interesting! Any requirements I should look out for?

Yes, just a couple.

• You are based in the Netherlands and have a legal status to do an internship.
• Availability to work for at least 32 hours per week, with the possibility of work-from-home arrangements (to discuss)
• We are looking for someone doing a study at a bachelor’s or a Master’s program in policy,
• international relations, security studies and public administration . More than your title is your attitude that counts for us.
• You are an interdisciplinary designer with an interest in how people use technology and Africa – Europe international relations.
• You feel comfortable using tools in Office 365 for communicating and analyzing data
• You are ambitious and get things done
• You can seamlessly work in a team but also take charge and ownership of your independent responsibilities.
• You are a fast learner
