1. JOB IDENTIFICATION

Job Title: Head Environmental Health Safety & Quality Advisor Division/Department: Operations Integrity Location: Lagos

2. ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Directly reports to: GM, Ops Integrity Supervises: Snr EHSQ Officers & EHS Supervisors

3. JOB SUMMARY
The Head, Environmental Health Safety & Quality is tasked with the responsibility of designing, implementing & managing the company’s EHS-Management System which comprises of hazard identification and mitigation, EHS planning & execution, competence assurance, EHS contractor management, and incident & non-conformance reporting & investigation amongst others. One of his main activities is monitoring and measuring compliance through weekly, monthly quarterly and annual KPIs for prevention and when necessary corrective actions preventing loss of life, damage to equipment & facilities and brand damage due to poor EHS management. He is expected through exemplary leadership & awareness to create an incident free operation. He is also tasked with engaging regulatory agencies to ensure all new or updated legislations are adopted as policy by the company as well as influence these agencies for a positive outcome to enhance operations and prevent programs delays. He attends all key EHS industry forums such as EHS-OPTS (Oil Producers Trade Section) to ensure policies being generated and agreed benefits the organisations operations as well as leveraging on the resources offered by these entities when required.

4. SPECIFIC DUTIES

• Set EHS targets and drive EHS performance leading to zero (0) LTI.
• Champion cultural transformation from an EHS perspective, create an environment where EHS becomes a responsibility of every employee.
• Create a sense of purpose and direction amongst the employees to achieve an incident free environment through active communication of EHS policies, objectives and targets.
• Develop EHS specific KPIs in all Business / Line Functions.
• Design, develop, implement & maintain company’s Emergency Response Preparedness & overall Business continuity.
• Engage & influence regulatory agencies for a positive outcome to enhance operations.
• Develop legislative compliance matrix and ensure compliance by the organization.
• Determine EHS requirements and impact of scopes of work on all new capital projects; thus including the generation, review and approval of risk assessment for such projects.
• Ensure and maintain quality standards for all projects.
• Develop EHS initiatives and programs to drive EHS culture across the organization.
• Liaise with the Medical Consultant to ensure a robust company’s fitness-to-work system,
• Engage operators of joint ventures to improve EHS performance on projects and operations.
• Outline activities, resources and budget requirements for the annual Company Business Plan
• Management and co-ordination of competent EHS Field personnel.
• Liaise with the security team to ensure the safety of employees particularly during field operations.
• Manage contractors’ EHS Management System to ensure projects are delivered in line with organization’s EHS management system.
• Co-ordinate Incident investigation reviews
• Develop and implement EHS Plan

Function & Job Descriptions
• Develop and implement MFI/EHS Audit Plan
• Ensuring competency and training requirements are met for all EHS personnel
• Management and coordination of EHS risk register.
• Preparation and issue of monthly EHS reports.
• Maintain HSE Management System Certifications.
• Review HSE Statistics and generate MIS report to Management
• Provide HSE inputs into the business development process.

5. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

• Robust EHS-MS system within the company
• Safe and incident free working environment for the employees (Zero LTI)
• Systems and best practices with regards to EHS implementation for the division
• Adherence to regulatory requirements and standards for all operational activities

6. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• 1st degree in Engineering or strong science background from a reputable University.
• A Post Graduate degree is an added advantage
• Min 15 years relevant work experience in Oil & Gas Industry.
• Knowledgeable in ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OSHA 18001 standards and EHS management system.
• Strong passion in developing new EHS initiatives.
• Good MS Office skills particularly in Excel, Words and Power point.
• Able to work independently and meticulous.
• Must be willing to travel at short notice and work offshore.
• Membership of EHS associations like ASSE,IIRSM,OSHA is an added advantage
