Job Description
Job Title: Instrumentation & Automation Discipline Manager

Job purpose: Is responsible for all engineering activities related to Instrumentation and Automation discipline on projects in accordance with contractual requirements (design, budgeted hours, schedule etc.) by leading the discipline staff and by coordinating with other disciplines and functions (internally/externally). In addition, ensures the level of competencies and capabilities (e.g., tools, procedures, organization, and resources) of the discipline. Reporting lines and interactions: Hierarchically reports to: Engineering and Operations Manager Operationally reports to: Project Engineering Manager / Project Manager Directly supervises (operationally): Instrumentation & Automation Lead Engineers/Engineers Key interactions (internally, externally): Other disciplines department managers, Project Managers, Project support functions such as Procurement, Subcontracting & Planning, Document controller, Audit & certification, Client engineering managers, PMC; Partners in the case of JV etc. Job scope (= role dimension: budget, management, specific criteria): – Dedicated to multiple Projects. – Management of 5-10 people.

Profile: Must have:

• Engineering Degree or Diploma with 15+ years of experience in Instrumentation and Automation Design and execution of projects in Oil & Gas Industry, onshore or offshore facilities.

• Previous experience of + 5 years in similar position (i.e., Instrumentation & Automation Discipline Manager) with dedicated reference(s) for performance in such position to be provided.

• Strong technical/engineering capabilities in design works, including but not limited to field instrumentation, DCS/ESD, SCADA, PLC, Telecommunication systems, Fire & Gas etc. Wide experience in preparation of Material Requisitions (i.e., MR), complete MR cycle management, Vendors documentation follow-up and procurement technical support services, design calculations, BoQs management etc.)

• Engineering design experience in diversified projects such as Feasibility/Conceptual studies and associated Cost Estimates, Basic Engineering Design (BED), Front End Engineering & Design (FEED), Detail Engineering & Design (DED).

• Knowledge of required standards, codes and rules & regulations regarding instrumentation and automation works including but not limited to API, ASME, ASTM, IEC, ISO, ISA, ATEX.

• Certifications and licenses related to job position (e.g., Hazop, SIL) • Knowledge/experience in working with dedicated design software/platforms (e.g., SP3D/SPI,

ExSILentia etc.)

• Required deep knowledge of interdisciplinary technical matters/inputs/prerequisite interface (e.g., mandatory knowledge on design principles for piping and materials, process engineering etc.)

• Ability to work in a team environment and handle responsibilities on multiple Projects, of the discipline.

• Willingness to work in a national and international environment. • Fluent in English (written and spoken)

Nice to have:

• Field/Site Engineering experience Main accountabilities: • Is responsible for the management of the discipline engineering team. This includes the

recruitment of qualified personnel, monitoring of staff performance, management of resources as well as proper allocation of resources to Projects and Proposals/Tenders.

• Is responsible for maintaining and developing the proficiency of the discipline personnel in terms of working methods (engineering tools development included), technical training and development, career planning of individuals with the HR team.

• Strong know-how transfer capabilities and capacity in growing-up young engineers. • Represents the discipline towards Management, Clients, Vendors, Sub-contractors, and Project. • Ensures that the discipline adheres to financial and staff utilization budgets and standards. • Is responsible for technical assurance of discipline’s deliverables on Projects, complainant to

QHSE plan and discipline engineering processes & standards. • Is responsible for compliance with schedule and quality of engineering deliverables under the

contractual Project requirements. • Is responsible for Planning of manpower and work distribution/assignment within the discipline on

regular basis. • Is responsible for cost effective solutions/guidelines implementation. • Coordinates with other discipline and project support functions. • Defining scope of work from tender documents to produce detailed activities plan. • Providing technical assistance on received quotations and supporting subcontracts. • Contributes to project close out and lessons learned.
