Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a Port Engineer to join our client´s team. The Port Engineer will be responsible for organizing and scheduling vessel maintenance, supervising onboard personnel, conducting regular inspections, and managing necessary repairs. This role also includes maintaining inventory, ensuring regulatory compliance, and keeping accurate records. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage emergencies effectively. Main Responsibilities.
 

• Planning and Scheduling: Organizes and schedules the execution of preventive and corrective maintenance activities for the vessels, tracking the requisitions of materials and services needed per vessel to ensure resources are allocated.

• Personnel Supervision: Directs and supervises the vessel personnel to perform onboard maintenance, ensuring they comply with safety standards and the established company safety management manual.

• Inspection and Diagnosis: Conducts regular inspections of each assigned vessel to identify maintenance needs and potential failures, as well as diagnose and resolve mechanical or electrical issues.

• Repair Coordination: Coordinates and manages necessary repairs, whether onboard or at shore facilities, ensuring the use of appropriate resources and adherence to safety procedures.

• Inventory and Supply Management: Maintains an adequate inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment necessary for maintenance, ensuring they are available when needed.

• Regulatory Compliance: Possesses expert-level knowledge regarding regulatory compliance and industry recommendations.

• Certification and Classification: Responsible for maintaining the certification of assigned vessels, ensuring timely recertifications and/or endorsements within the windows established by international agreements and industry recommendations.

• Reports and Documentation: Keeps accurate records of all activities related to operations and maintenance, including inspection reports, repairs performed, and open recommendations.

• Failure Investigation and Reporting: Investigates and reports all failure cases, determining their causes.
• Accident and Risk Investigation: Participates in the investigation of accident causes, risk situations, and non-conformities on the vessels.

• Emergency Management: Prepared to respond to and manage emergencies and critical situations related to the operational conditions of the vessels. Participates in the company’s established emergency response plan.

• Optimization and Efficiency: Identifies opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce maintenance costs without compromising safety or work quality.

 
Qualifications.
 

• Naval Mechanical Engineer or Marine Captain

• Professional Title
• Minimum of 5 years in a similar position
