Service Engineer for Yachts 

Location: La Ciotat, FRANCE (13)

Contract: Permanent

 

For the expansion of the team in La Ciotat, France, we are looking for a Service Engineer. As a Service Engineer Yachts, you will be responsible for independently performing service, maintenance work on electrical installations on board luxury superyachts. You will also have a strong focus on complex automation issues on board ships. 

 

What are you going to do ?

The Service Engineer works at the service hub in La Ciotat*. Two colleagues currently work at this location, an Electrical Production Supervisor and a Service Engineer. The working area is worldwide, but mainly France, Spain and Italy.

In this position you will be deployed for service and refit work. You must be able to analyze issues independently – and sometimes as part of a team – identify the problem and come up with an appropriate solution.

What you will do:

  • You independently install and perform service, maintenance and commissioning work on various types of ships, but mainly super yachts;
  • You think actively about problems or deviations that occur during the service assignments and projects;
  • You make summaries and reports on the work done;
  • You do preventive and corrective maintenance;
  • Experience in the use of diagnostic instruments, equipment, (e.g. megger meter, etc.);
  • Able to follow systematic procedures for solving problems while thinking critically and adapting to new challenges;
  • Able to clearly and accurately document findings and results of problem solving for internal reporting;
  • Ability to prepare concise and useful reports on root cause, possible solutions and next steps;
  • Able to work comfortably in dynamic environments and adapt to changing priorities.

What do you need:

  • You’ve completed education MBO -4 electrical engineering or maritime school;
  • You are substantively strong in automation issues and electrical engineering;
  • You have good communication skills in English;
  • You have persuasiveness, a focus on results and autonomy;
  • You have several years of experience with electrical engineering, preferably on board ships;

It is an advantage if you have several years of experience in automation (PLC, SCADA and alarm systems), preferably on a ship.
